FJet at the Kepler Challenge - 3rd Dec 2017

It was a perfect day in Te Anau for the 30th annual Kepler Challenge! A few clouds in the morning kept it cool for all those racing, spectating and volunteering. The challenge consists of either the Mountain Run, a gruelling 60km race along the entirety of The Kepler Track, or the Luxmore Grunt, a 27km sprint from the Lake Te Anau Control Gates up to Luxmore Hut and back down. The Kepler Track, located in Fiordland National Park, is but one prime example of the unbeatable beauty of New Zealand's South Island. And it's right in our backyard!

We were lucky enough to have Isla (the most adorable runner ever) representing the Fiordland Jet family! Isla, our co-owner Jerry's wee niece, ran for Southern Stars Early Learning Centre and we were so proud to have her representing the FJet name. Good on ya Isla!!

Sim (one of our top-notch drivers) was on the river all day providing boat support for the absolute legends volunteering at the Motarau Hut drink station. It really does take a village to put on such a large and well-organised event, so a big thank you to all the volunteers that made this year's Kepler Challenge such a success!

I wonder if any of the FJet staff will compete next year?!?

Tour of Southland Stage 2 Finishes in Te Anau - 31st Oct 2017

Such a good day in Te Anau today. The Fiordland Jet office has a front row seat to watch the Tour of Southland cyclists finishing their second day of racing, a stunning finish with lots of lyrca and a few sunburnt arms and legs.

This stage of the race was from Riverton up through Manapouri and finishing on Lakefront Drive, We sent Laura down to get some pics of the winning group.

I bet a few of them would have gone for a swim in Lake Te Anau after their race debrief!

Fiordland Jet makes the paper - 11th Oct 2017

Fiordland Jet Lake Te Anau Southland Times

https://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/news/97437061/fiordland-jet-expands-business-in-tourist-hotspot

Check out the piece written on us in the Southland Times, we think it's pretty cool!

"We thinks it's a great part of the world ... and it's on our back door."

'Adams and Jerry Excell grew up together and spent their whole lives fishing, he said.

They both had holiday houses in Fiordland and enjoyed boating so they knew the area well.

The new business would be "family fun" and educate tourists on the regions qualities.

There would be "thrills and spills", relaxation and talks about fishing spots, The Lord of the Rings sites and nature, Adams said.

A new premises has been built on the Te Anau Lakefront, new boats added totalling four jetboats, and plans to bring on pedal boats, kayaks, and hire bikes for the new Lake2Lake Trail.'

'Drift training' - 6th Oct 2017

'Drift training'

Sim and Nathan spent some time getting trained on slow speed manouvers on the river today. Some how they even found the time to throw a line over the side and just look at the fish they found!
